Registry of Marriages (ROM) Relocation: What Couples Need to Know (2025)
Exciting changes are coming to the Registry of Marriages (ROM) and the Registry of Muslim Marriages (ROMM) in Singapore! If you’re planning to register your marriage in 2025 or beyond, here’s everything you need to know about ROM’s temporary relocation and upcoming redevelopment.
ROM & ROMM Moving to Esplanade Mall in April 2025
To facilitate the redevelopment of their existing premises at 7 Canning Rise, ROM and ROMM will be temporarily relocating to Esplanade Mall. Their last day of operations at Canning Rise will be 11 April 2025, and they will resume services at Level 3 of Esplanade Mall on 14 April 2025.
During this transition weekend (12-13 April), there will be no in-person appointments or solemnisation ceremonies at ROM or ROMM. However, external solemnisation ceremonies, including those conducted via video link, will continue as usual.
Why the Move?
The relocation is part of a redevelopment project for the Canning Rise building, which will take place from 2025 to 2028. This revamp aims to provide:
- Larger and more modern solemnisation venues
- A rooftop solemnisation space
- Green and eco-friendly elements within the building
The new facilities are designed to create a more memorable and picturesque experience for couples tying the knot at ROM.
What This Means for Couples Planning Their ROM Appointments
If you’re planning to register your marriage or have your solemnisation at ROM in 2025, here’s what you need to know:
- All appointments and solemnisations scheduled from 14 April 2025 onwards will automatically be shifted to Esplanade Mall.
- Couples with existing bookings will receive official notifications about the change in venue.
- External solemnisation venues remain unaffected, and video link solemnisations will continue as usual.
A More Sustainable Future for ROM
The redevelopment project for ROM at Canning Rise is also focused on sustainability. The new building will incorporate:
- Energy-efficient building management systems
- Eco-friendly materials
- Enhanced accessibility and green spaces
This reflects Singapore’s ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability into key public services while improving user experience.
