Pros and Cons of a Lunch Wedding Reception in Singapore

Pros and Cons of a Lunch Wedding Reception in Singapore

Choosing the right time for your wedding can significantly impact the overall experience for you and your guests. For couples considering a lunchtime celebration in Singapore, here are the pros and cons to weigh in your decision-making process.

PROS

1. Save Money

Lunch receptions are often more budget-friendly than evening affairs. On average, venues charge anywhere from $200 to $800 LESS for lunch. This is a great way to stick to your budget!

2. Natural Lighting

During lunchtime, your venue will be bathed in natural sunlight. This is great for your photos! That said, be careful of the harsh lighting outdoors from 12pm to 2pm in Singapore. You should schedule to be indoors during those times.

3. Lunch weddings are more Family-Friendly

Families with young children may find lunchtime events more convenient. It accommodates early bedtimes and allows your guests to bring their children to celebrate your special together. If you have an evening wedding, families with young children may not be able to attend.

4. Less Alcohol Consumption during Lunch

Guests tend to drink less during daytime events, compared to a wedding dinner. This not only aligns with a more casual atmosphere but can also contribute to a more controlled and comfortable celebration. You are less likely to get a rowdy crowd at lunch.

Plus, you may not need to prepare as much alcoholic beverages, thus saving you some extra bucks.

CONS

1. Heat

Singapore's tropical climate is no joke. Avoid having the solemnisation between 12pm - 3pm. Make sure that your lunch wedding does not have any outdoor seating. Consider asking your venue to turn up the air-con!

2. Waking up super early

Don’t expect to get any beauty sleep if you are having a lunch wedding! A lunch reception requires an earlier start to the day. You have to allocate sufficient time for hair and makeup (2 hours), gatecrashing festivities (1 hour), your solemnisation (1 hour), and transportation – all before 12pm. Expect a wake-up call as early as 5am.

This might be a con for night owls or those who prefer a more relaxed morning before the festivities begin.
