How to Choose the Right Solemniser and Justice of Peace for Your ROM Wedding in Singapore

How to Choose the Right Solemniser and Justice of Peace for Your ROM Wedding in Singapore

Congratulations, lovebirds! You've found your other half, booked the dream venue, and now it's time to make it official.

But wait, who officiates the ceremony and makes everything legal?

Enter the solemniser, the person who will pronounce both of you husband and wife. He/she will be a crucial part of your wedding day, so here's how to find the right one for you:

Preferred Language

The first criteria is to choose the language(s) that you want your solemnisation to be conducted. Perhaps you might want a bilingual solemniser or one who knows some dialect for older members of the family?

You can filter for the solemniser's preferred languages here.

Ceremonial Style

Do you want a light-hearted ceremony littered with jokes and laughter? Or do you prefer a solemn, serious mood for your wedding ceremony?

Each solemniser tends to have their own styles of conducting the ceremony. Read up on reviews from graduated brides & grooms to decide who is a good fit for you.

Bridely's Solemniser Finder allows you to filter for the JOP's styles based on what others have said about them.

Bonus Tips

  • Don't wait till the last minute – popular solemnizers get booked faster than you can say "just married."
  • Remember, solemnizers are volunteers. A little angbao is a customary way of thanking them for their time.
  • Delegate a friendly face to greet them at your venue and show them to the ceremonial spot.
  • If possible, consider offering transport to your wedding venue
