5 Wedding Guest Etiquettes When Attending a Wedding in Singapore

You've been invited to a wedding in Singapore – a time to celebrate love, family, and delicious food!

But with the excitement comes a touch of uncertainty: what are the wedding etiquette expectations in Singapore?

Apart from the most obvious (like how much angbao money to give?), here are 5 tips that are just as important to ensure you're the most gracious and well-prepared wedding guest:

1. RSVP Early

Respect the RSVP deadline on your invitation. Brownie points if you RSVP as early as possible before waiting for the deadline to approach. If something unexpected comes up, inform the couple ASAP – a quick text or call goes a long way!

2. How to RSVP “no”

Don’t wait till the last minute to decline the invitation.

Thank them for their invitation and explain why you are unable to attend their wedding. Optionally, you can offer a small wedding gift or taking them out to dinner to celebrate as a token of appreciation.

3. Be Punctual!

Imagine the couple saying their vows, and suddenly a guest stumbles into the ceremony and interrupts their precious moment. Don’t be THAT guest!

Aim to arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony or banquet starts.

4. Phones on Silent, Cameras Ready (with Permission)!

Unless the couple specifically requests an unplugged ceremony, feel free to capture those special moments. But keep your phone on silent and be mindful of blocking other guests' views.

5. Write a Review as a Wedding Guest for the Venue

Your experience as a wedding guest is extremely valuable to other couples who are considering having their wedding at the same venue!
